DES MOINES, IA—Jerry Miller, 69, president of Acme Printing located here, died April 1, three days after suffering a stroke, the
Des Moines Register reported. Mr. Miller purchased Acme Printing in 1976 and grew the business to more than $14 million in sales, taking it from a three-person shop to a plant with more than 100 employees.

UM Acquires Acme Printing Assets

WESTWOOD, MA—Universal Millennium (UM), a portfolio company of Calvert Street Capital Partners, has acquired the assets of Wilmington, MA-based Acme Printing from parent company The MATLET Group. According to UM CEO Bill Fitzgerald, the deal provides customers with a powerful suite of tools, from web and sheetfed printing to Web-to-print and digital printing capabilities, across three facilities.

Francis Canzano Jr., president of Acme Printing, died Oct. 13 after a long battle with cancer. He was 67. A member of the Boston Litho Club, Mr. Canzano won numerous national and international awards in the graphic arts industry. He was inducted into the Printing Impressions/RIT Printing Industry Hall of Fame in 1999.

WILMINGTON, MA—George Farraher has been promoted to president of Acme Printing following the death of longtime leader Fran Canzano. Farraher, a 23-year veteran of the company, will report directly to John Gaffney of The MATLET Group, Acme's parent company. He was promoted to vice president/general manager in 2005, when Acme was acquired by The MATLET Group.

Having worked in every operating department on a part-time basis since a teenager, Francis W. “Fran” Canzano, Jr. began his full-time career at Acme in 1965 in sales. Fran quickly demonstrated strong performance as a result of highly-developed professionalism and resourcefulness; this resulted in being promoted to Vice President of Sales in 1969.
