NPC Inc. Still Tops GPO Print Suppliers

CHAMBERSBURG, PA—It's a three-peat for NPC Inc. of Claysburg, PA, which once again heads the list of “GPO Top 50 Print Suppliers.” For the third straight year, NPC was king among the top 50 private sector print suppliers that did the most work for the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO). Federal Fiscal Year 2011 covered October 2010 to September 2011.

Scott Walker announced that Freedom (Milton, WI) is eligible for up to $138,000 in economic development tax credits allocated by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. for planned equipment upgrades at its facility. Freedom will invest more than $5 million to acquire a digital printing press and other equipment that will expedite its operations.

For the second consecutive year, NPC (News Printing Co.) of Claysburg, PA, heads the list. More than 1,700 print suppliers obtained GPO work during FY2010. The value of all GPO work awarded to them during this period was $358 million compared to $425 million awarded in FY2009.

Neenah to Obtain Fox River ALPHARETTA, GA—Neenah Paper has signed a definitive agreement to purchase Fox Valley, which owns Fox River Paper. Presses Head for Hawkeye State HIAWATHA, IA—Two 41˝ KBA Rapida 105 sheetfed presses with coaters have been installed at Cedar Graphics. The first press is a six-color Rapida 105 sheetfed press; the second is a 10-color, five-over-five Rapida 105 long perfector with a roll-to-sheet feeder. CALIFORNIA GLENDALE—Color Depot has installed a Kluge EHF series press. The print trade shop included the preload continuous magazine option that allows the machine to be reloaded while in motion (for continuous feeding). Xerox Mourns Loss of Hatch ROCHESTER, NY—Gilbert J. Hatch, president of the Production Systems Group at Xerox Corp., died Aug. 26 after a long battle with cancer.
