manroland Reaches Terms with Works Council

OFFENBACH, GERMANY—manroland AG and the works council at the press manufacturer have agreed on a "reconciliation of interests and a social plan" that will see a reduction of about 500 jobs combined at manroland plants in Augsburg, Offenbach and Plauen, Germany, by the end of 2012. As part of the agreement, another 300 employees will be transferred to its new business unit, manroland Industrial Services, which is slated to kick off Jan. 1.

The latest print technologies released by manroland will be presented via video format and include a special 3D ‘stereo flight’ view inside a printing press. Some of the items presented and discussed will be manroland’s new family addition to the 41˝ line of printing presses, the Roland 700 HiPrint HS press with 18,000 sph capability.

Baldwin Graphic Names Gustafson President

SHELTON, CT—Baldwin Graphic Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Baldwin Technology, hired Donald Gustafson as its president on Monday. In his role with the company, Gustafson, who will be based at the company's sales offices in Wood Dale, IL, will direct and manage the marketing, sales and service responsibilities for the Americas marketplace, and will have responsibility for the division's P&L performance.

Cal Poly Dedicates New Sheetfed Press SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA—Cal Poly’s Graphic Communication Department received the donation of a new Heidelberg four-color Speedmaster CD 74 press to commemorate the 60th anniversary of its establishment. G.F. Puhl Co. Building New Facility GALLATIN, TN—Construction is underway on a new 51,000-square-foot office and manufacturing complex for G.F. Puhl Co.
