SUSSEX, WI—A decline in orders and the dismal economy has forced Quad/Graphics hand again, prompting the nation's largest privately-held printer to lay off 140 employees, according to
BizTimes Milwaukee. Most of the cuts will be made in Wisconsin, with prepress and its QuadTech operations absorbing the reductions. The company laid off roughly 550 people earlier this year.

QuadTech Obtains Injunction Against Q.I. Press Controls for Infringing Patent Covering Markless Register Control

SUSSEX, WI—July 7, 2008—QuadTech, the worldwide leader and innovator of press control technology, has been granted a preliminary injunction against Q.I. Press Controls for infringing QuadTech’s German patent covering markless register control technology. In an urgency proceeding, the Düsseldorf district court released its decision on June 17, 2008, deciding that Q.I. Press Controls cannot market or otherwise sell its markless register control system (mRC) in Germany. QuadTech’s wholly-owned subsidiary Quad/Tech Europe, Inc. executed the Court’s judgment against Q.I Press Controls after receiving the preliminary injunction in writing.
