CINCINNATI—April 6 holds a special spot in the hearts of Queen City natives, as the baseball Reds open their 2009 season by hosting the Mets. Not far from Great American Ballpark, xpedx will drop the curtain on its new Technology Center. The 11,000-square-foot facility will provide printers with a single location to learn about and test new equipment and technologies from manufacturers, including Ryobi, Kodak, Epson, C.P. Bourg, Morgana, Secap and others. The center showcases prepress and workflow technologies, offset and digital presses, as well as postpress/bindery equipment and technology.

Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group has made a contribution of $85,000 to the New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity (NOAHH). Quebecor World Endures Loss MONTREAL—Embattled printing giant Quebecor World was socked with a loss of $21.1 million for the second quarter, or 20 cents a share. That is more than three times the $6.5 million (11 cents) net loss from the same period in 2006. Boise Paper’s board of directors has approved a $72 million capital project to expand Boise’s production of pressure-sensitive paper.
