Make ’Em Laugh – Happy Holidays Edition

In keeping with my talk track that humor and authenticity are vital and valuable to your business, with respect to both client retention and new business development, I had to share this latest video with you.

I like this company (Think Patented). It has personality. Typically, that means that at least a few of the folks who work there are interesting, engaging and fun to be around. And I don’t care what ANYONE tells you about the new sales paradigm, or technology, or any of it all…Customers still want to do business with people they like.

I have a big feeling that I would like these folks. And I bet you that if I asked their loyal customers, they would say the same things:

  • “They make my job fun.”
  • “I trust them.”

This is gold people. Gold.

So check out the company’s “12 Days” video, have a great holidays and I will be back after the New Year with more of my musings and observations—along with a pearl of wisdom or two, with any luck.

Happy Holidays!

    Kelly,

Thanks for sharing our video. As one of the "12 Salesmen Selling", I can tell you that Think Patented does have "personality". We have a great group of people who work together and do whatever it takes to get our clients what they want.

…and you are correct, there are a few folks around here who are quite "interesting"!

    Merry Christmas!

Hi Kelly and Merry Christmas to you and your adorable (well, most of the time :) little ladies and your stud-muppet hubby too.

The video is terrif — I actually like this one better than the earlier one from the team at Think Patented (Paul Castain used it in one of his Blogs) this one is a bit shorter and that makes good sense in these time pressed days.

Your blog ruminations make some really important points about people liking to do business with people they like. Despite the utter reality of an ever more tightly connected global economy, we are all, ironically, seeing the rise of hyper local commerce, people not only want to like you, they want to do business with some one close at hand.

Social Media (many markeing gurus say that all businesses need a presence on Facebook and You Tube and Twitter and maybe Pinterest or Tumblr) makes "putting a face on your printing firm" so easy.

    The genius of Think Patented’s video efforts is that they are using their own people, and tell us in the credits who those good folk were. {Who among us does not like to see our name in the newspaper or up in lights on a marquee?}

So your point is dead on — they seem like a fun, approachable, likeable crew.

Moreover, they have given us a window into their team, they have put a face on the company.

Contrast this approach to the printer who has only a contact form on the website, no humans are named, and "good gollee we wouldn’t want to put the managements pictures, and e-mails, and direct dial or cell numbers up there, people might actually call them and what if it’s spam?" Sorry Charlie, that model is dead, transparency rules, and if not you just might get Yelped.

Have a great Holiday Break Kelly, and thank you for your steady-on mode of keepin it real, you rock girlfriend!
