Crawling Out From Under My Rock

You guys! I just realized it has been a month since I posted! I am so sorry for my absence. I can only imagine how disappointed you all must have been each day heading to the site to see that once again, I had failed to deliver for you! I have no excuses, just life—that’s all. Well that and I have just been having a subject matter dry spell. I sat down a few times to write something, and everything just sounded so PREACHY! I had one about making sure you were polite, using please and thank you, probably because I have witnessed so many grown adults treating each other in not-so-nice ways. But you don’t need me to remind you to say please and thank you. Do you? No, you do not.

Then I started one about how you should work hard to be more self aware and intuitive and not spend too much time talking about yourself. I even looked up an old YouTube video from the 80s of the great band English Beat and their song Best Friend (which you can see here)

You’re welcome.

And what that was really about was making sure that we stay focused on our customers and prospects and don’t get carried away with telling OUR stories to them. Which is not to say that we can’t share some things. We just should make sure that the customer does WAY more of the talking than we do.

But I’m pretty sure that you all know that and don’t really need to be reminded of it.

This has been a particularly long and difficult winter for just about all of us in this country. We have been suffering from freezing temperatures and tons of snow here in the Midwest (where we are ready for it) and even in places in the south (where you are NOT) to drought in California. I would like to make a motion that spring start IMMEDIATELY.

I too live in Illinois. There will be no spring. In a 24 hr period we will jump from below freezing with wind gusts of 40+mph to 95 degree heat without a breath of wind. Just saying that is the way it is here.

I missed your wit and wisdom Kelly. You are a great writer and always have something worthwhile. As a fellow blogger I understand the problem of coming up with good topics. I have the the same issue on a regular basis. I find that if I just can get out in the field and visit some of our centers a lot of ideas for content come up.
I don’t know how Bill Far. Does it. He is just too prolific and must have way too much time on his hands.
And just to really make all of you mid westerners really angry I have played golf three days in a row in Reno.(J

Thanks Y’all – I am humbled by the support and warmth! (see what I did there?)

Welcome back, Kelly! The temperatures should be rising a bit more in the next week or two in the Midwest, and I look forward to reading the blog posts that they inspire.
