SGS Subsidiary Acquires Stevenson Color

LOUISVILLE, KY—SGS International, which specializes in design-to-print graphics services to the consumer products packaging industry, announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Southern Graphic Systems, has acquired Stevenson Color.

Cincinnati once was home to a massive printing industry founded by immigrants who brought their trade from Europe. Changing times and technology have eliminated some of those businesses, but not Stevenson Color, an 85-year-old, family-owned company. Stevenson Color’s sales have doubled to $24 million during the past decade, at a time when many printing companies have gone out of business.

Today, in its fourth generation of family ownership, Stevenson Color provides design and printing services for retailers including Kroger and Dillard’s. The company specializes in packaging and point-of-sale promotional materials that require unique printing and production capabilities, says Jeff Stevenson
