Mark Heimerl Joins Arandell as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing

As Arandell Corp. continues to grow, it has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Mark Heimerl as senior vice president of sales and marketing. M&A Activity: The Invisible 'Tuck-in' Deals

It would be presumptuous to say that M&A activity, across the board, has taken a hit. There has been a fair amount of activity near the $5 million to $15 million range, situations where unions have taken place due to the complementary nature of their products and services, while others have forged working relationships in order to cross-sell off each other's platform. But what isn't receiving much attention—or ink—is the phantom tuck-in, simply because many companies just aren't trumpeting asset purchases.

Ripon Printers, which produces catalogs, publications, manuals and soft-cover educational products, has purchased certain assets of New Berlin, WI-based Sells Printing. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The combined companies have annual sales of approximately $55 million.

Layoffs Hit Sells Printing in New Berlin

Sells Printing Co. has filed a mass layoff notice impacting about 67 workers at its New Berlin (WI) operations. In a letter to the state Department of Workforce Development, the company said: “We presently anticipate that 55 SPC employees will be permanently laid off on June 22, 2012. In addition, SPC intends to permanently layoff one employee on June 13, 2012, five employees on Sept. 28, 2012, and six employees on Dec. 31, 2012.”
