Paperboard Manufacturer FiberMark has Acquired Crocker Technical Papers

FiberMark has acquired the assets of Crocker Technical Papers in Fitchburg, MA. Crocker will become a part of FiberMark’s technical specialties and performance boards business in which FiberMark will adopt the Crocker brand name. The deal is expected to close in August.

conVerd will become a part of FiberMark’s wide- and grand-format inkjet business in which FiberMark’s wide-format print product line will adopt the conVerd brand name. Paul Paulette, the current owner and president of conVerd, will join FiberMark as vice president and general manager of the new conVerd/FiberMark business unit.

FiberMark Develops New Paper Products to Replace Plastic

FiberMark CEO Anthony P.D. MacLaurin can strip down his company’s corporate strategy to one simple statement.  “Replace plastic,” he says. That means getting manufacturers that use plastic in book covers, file folders, packaging for consumer goods from cognac and Godiva chocolates to board games to use materials made with cellulose.

FiberCard replaces the plastic used in gift cards and hotel-room key cards with a dense, glossy paper that not only accepts the printing of graphics and photos, but takes the magnetic strip and scratch-off space where the PIN number is hidden.
