Following a battle with cancer, Emile Tabassi, North American director of sales and communications for MGI USA, passed away on February 7, 2015. He was 64. Tabassi joined the MGI USA team in 2011 after spending 21 years at AGFA Corp. as sales and marketing manager.

Robert Howard, who invented the dot-matrix printer that helped fuel
sales of personal computers, was remembered this week for his
curiosity and generosity. Howard, who died recently at age 91,
founded Centronics Data Computer—which commercialized the
printer—with seven employees in Hudson in 1968.
He formed more than two dozen companies, including Presstek and Howtek, both in Hudson, NH, during the 1980s.
"The innovative vision that Bob Howard had for Presstek, and its role in the print industry when he founded the company...has been carried forward by many dedicated and talented team members over the years," COO Geoff Loftus said.
Steve Chmielewski has joined Presstek LLC to lead DI digital offset press sales efforts in the West Region of the United States. Reporting to the director of worldwide sales and marketing, Chmielewski is responsible for expanding Presstek’s market share within his region by increasing installations and furthering the development of Presstek’s local dealer channels.
The Presstek JT aluminum plate is designed to be imaged on Epson inkjet printers with the printer’s standard ink cartridges. After imaging, plates go directly to press for impressions of 5,000 or less. Presstek’s JT Direct Inkjet CTP solution has been successfully installed at customer locations in North America and Europe, and it has an extremely small physical and environmental footprint.

Jeffrey A. Beck has joined Presstek as president and CEO. He succeeds David Savage who recently transitioned to lead WaterJet Holdings, another portfolio company held by Presstek’s owner, American Industrial Partners.
Jeff Jacobson, formerly COO of the Xerox Technology Business, has been named president following the retirement of Armando Zagalo de Lima. Jacobson now oversees Xerox’s Graphic Communications Operations, Large Enterprise Operations and Channel Partner Operations. “Xerox is putting a great emphasis on print,” Jacobson told Printing Impressions Editor-in-Chief Mark Michelson in a conference call following the announcement.
