Each year the National Assn. for Printing Leadership (NAPL) (Paramus, NJ) presents graphic communications companies with its Management Plus awards. This year, 16 companies were recognized with Gold, Silver and Merit awards, along with Hall of Fame winner Wordsprint (see “The right type,” August 2009).

Agfa Graphics, Pitney Bowes, and NAPL today announced their co-partnership of the PrintSmart webinar series in July and August. The PrintSmart series will consist of three exciting new webinars featuring cost reduction and money-saving strategies that commercial printers can put into action immediately!

During the month of June, NAPL is hosting a webinar series focused on sales and marketing topics called the PrintPlus series. The final webinar of the June series is entitled “Creating a Persona for Your Print Business on the Internet” and will take place on June 30, 2009 at noon ET. This webinar is being sponsored through the generous support of Canon.

Although the latest NAPL Printing Business Conditions release reports seeing signs the recession may finally be reaching its lowest point, it also reveals that the commercial printing industry is continuing to experience a deep slide in sales—the steepest, in fact, for any three months in the more than 20 years NAPL has tracked the industry—and offers little hope for a meaningful industry rebound in 2009, predicting a decline in industry sales of a record 8%-12% this year.

IKON Office Solutions, a Ricoh company, and The NAPL Network will offer four, half-day, hands-on workshops focusing on how and why printers are differentiating themselves by transitioning from traditional print shops into marketing service providers.

NAPL, the trade association for excellence in business management, selected 17 graphic communications companies to receive 2008 Management Plus Awards, which recognize management excellence in all phases of operation.
