JOHN PHILLIPS may never enjoy freedom again. As an inmate at the Northern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility in Moundsville, WV, the 41-year-old is serving a long sentence that may very well keep him behind bars for the rest of his life. But that hasn’t stopped him, and about 40 fellow inmates, from participating in the prison’s PrintED-accredited graphic communications training program run by the West Virginia Department of Education. The program includes men from age 18 to some in their 60s and 70s.

BE: USA 2008/2009 - The Media Survey of the United States' Business Elite

2,251 respondents, representative of some 630,000 senior executives in over 70,000 U.S. businesses covering a number of different industries, including information technology, telecommunications, financial services, and insurance. The average BE:USA senior decision-maker is overwhelmingly male (87%), possesses at least one degree (74%), has an average personal (not household) income of over $400,000 and a net worth – excluding real state holdings – exceeding $1.7 million. The BE:USA sample universe represents 1.7 trillion dollars of business purchasing decisions.

Members, customers, and/or subscribers of EDSF, Xplor International, AIIM, OutputLinks, and Doculabs were solicited via e-mail for participation in this study with 109 valid responses tabulated. Survey results were from buy-side only firms (organizations such as banks and insurance companies that use paper and electronic communications to support their primary business). No suppliers or print-for-pay providers were surveyed.

John Phillips, 41, an inmate at the Northern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility in Moundsville, WV received a certification in Offset Press Operations after passing an online standardized PrintED examination.
