In the first significant move under new CEO John Hans, Imagine! Print Solutions entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Midnight Oil Agency, a marketing agency based in Burbank, Calif., which at one time flew under the LAgraphico banner. The deal, which is subject to customary closing conditions, is expected to close in the third quarter.

On the first day of drupa 2016, Landa announced that it has entered into strategic partnerships with Quad/Graphics, the largest publication printer in the U.S., and with Cimpress, the global leader in mass customization and Web-to-print. In addition, Landa announced that it will deploy its presses at beta sites in Europe and the U.S. during 2017, naming its key beta site customers. Landa also announced an ultra-fast perfecting web press designed for publishing and direct mail, which will start shipping in late 2017.

John Hans has been named CEO of Imagine! Print Solutions and a member of the company's board of directors, effective June 1, 2016. Founder Bob Lothenbach, who has led Imagine! since its inception in 1988, will be working with Hans to affect a leadership transition over the next several months. "I believe we have found an outstanding executive to lead us into the future," says Lothenbach. "The company will benefit from John's leadership style. I am excited to remain part of the business and look forward to advising John and the rest of our terrific management team."
As brick-and-mortar stores fight it out with online retailers, the in-store experience becomes an increasingly important reason why shoppers will still drive to and spend time in a traditional store. Retailers and product manufacturers are counting on unique and attractive printed displays and graphics, as well as creative packaging, to create the difference that keeps shoppers coming.
