What Are You Tolerating?
A few years ago I worked with an awesome life coach who really helped me get myself on track with what I was meant to do with my life. One of the exercises that she had me do was a toleration exercise. It was a checklist of all the things in my life that I was tolerating.
What does that mean? Well, it was everything from little items around my apartment (broken tile in bathroom) to my weight (not where I wanted it) to my career and my relationship to money.
So where did that exercise get me? Well, I fixed the tile, I lost 15 pounds, I updated my resume and left a job I hated, and within 3 years I was living completely debt free. So all in all, it was a fantastic way to examine my life for the things that needed changing, overhauling or even just minor tweaks.
How does this apply to you? Well let me ask you this...In your business world (we’ll leave your personal life for your OWN life coach), where are some areas that need minor tweaking, major overhauls, or anything in between? Is your desk messy and you never can find that invoice? Is there a salesperson that you doubt is putting in an honest day's work each day? Have you been meaning to call your paper supplier and negotiate a better price or investigate some recycled alternatives so you can be more green?
See where I’m going with this? A little self examination into the things that you are tolerating in your daily work existence might just yield some changes that could save you money, make you money, increase your sales, or make your day just a little more “tolerable.” See what I did there?
