Vertis Communications Closing Plants

BALTIMORE—A former American Color Graphics facility within the Vertis Communications chain has closed its doors permanently and another will shut down operations completely by next June, according to several news sources.
About 240 employees of the Sylacauga, AL, plant were notified of the closing this week and given severance pay, according to The Daily Home of Talladega, AL. Meanwhile, the Akron (OH) Beacon Journal reported that the Medina, OH, facility will close by June, with roughly 165 workers let go. The Medina plant produced advertising inserts.
