Printer Wins Baldrige Award
FORT WORTH, TX—Branch-Smith Printing has received the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in the small business category. It is the nation’s premier award for performance excellence and quality achievement. The Baldrige Award is managed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in conjunction with the private sector. The winners were announced by President Bush and Commerce Secretary Don Evans in November.
Ennis Acquires Calibrated Forms
DESOTO, TX—Ennis Business Forms has completed its acquisition of the outstanding stock of Columbus, KS-based Calibrated Forms Co. Calibrated designs, manufactures and markets printed business forms within the wholesale business forms marketplace. Calibrated becomes a wholly-owned subsidiary and will operate in the Forms Solutions Group within Ennis. Calibrated’s owners, Jim Amyx and Kim Brown, will continue to lead Calibrated with the support of their management team.
PIA Names Chairman for 2003
ALEXANDRIA, VA—Michael A. Marcian, president of Corporate Press in Landover, MD, was recently named chair of the board of directors for Printing Industries of America (PIA). Marcian has long been involved with PIA, serving on the board of directors, the executive committee, the operating committee, and numerous other committees and task forces. In addition, he is active with his local affiliate, Printing and Graphic Communications Association (PGCA), having served as PGCA’s president from 1996-1997.
WOA Seeks VISION Nominations
ALEXANDRIA, VA—The Web Offset Association (WOA) has announced its call for entries for the 5th Annual Harry V. Quadracci VISION Award, which is conferred to that heatset web offset industry executive (printer or supplier) who has reached an unsurpassed level of excellence and achievement in the industry. To nominate an individual for the award, enclose a letter briefly introducing the nominee. Include his/her name, title, company, address, and phone and fax numbers.
