TreeRing.com Sees 600 Percent Growth in Customized Yearbooks
REDWOOD CITY, CA—September 01, 2011—With 600 percent growth since 2010, TreeRing.com, a producer of customized yearbooks, is receiving rave reviews from schools across the country. Students, parents and teachers have uploaded more than 1 million photos on TreeRing, and have created thousands of individualized, personalized pages as part of their school yearbooks. In addition, TreeRing not only eliminates the cost of yearbooks for schools, it also has raised over $50,000 for schools through its fundraising program.
Two photos per yearbook don’t make the grade!
Traditionally, students only get a couple of photos per yearbook, which leaves many students out of the picture. With TreeRing’s online collaborative book builder, the yearbook team creates the bulk of the yearbook, and each student or parent creates their own personalized pages with photos and memories from the past year that is printed only in their copy of the yearbook.
“TreeRing helps engage students and parents in the yearbook process, so each student can capture their own memories from the year and have them printed in their copy of the yearbook,” said Karen Andiel, Yearbook Editor at Don Whitt School in Sachse, TX. “It’s a perfect way to make sure every student is covered in the yearbook.”
Budget Cuts Eliminate Yearbooks
TreeRing estimates that their customers saved more than $100,000 from eliminating wasted yearbooks in the 2010-2011 school year alone. Because families create and order their yearbooks directly online, schools no longer have to pre-purchase and resell yearbooks, leaving schools with hundreds of unsold books and an empty pocket. This process significantly reduces the financial burden on schools to pay upfront fees for traditional yearbooks. Parents/students also receive a cost savings of 10-30 percent with TreeRing’s yearbooks because of their on-demand, efficient printing methods.
“School budgets just do not allow for the large, upfront fees that are expected from traditional yearbook companies. Unfortunately, many schools are eliminating critical resources such as teachers and courses, and have little to no funding for additional activities like yearbooks,” said Aaron Greco, Co-Founder and CEO of TreeRing. “TreeRing eliminates the cost of the yearbook for the school and allows students to participate in this special keepsake. Not only can schools continue the yearbook tradition, but now students have personalized memories that will last a lifetime.”
Greco continued: “With the traditional yearbook model, if just ten $40 books don’t get sold at the end of the year, that’s $400, which is the price of a new computer for the school.”
Print a Book, Plant a Tree!
TreeRing is not only committed to preserving student’s memories, but also to preserving the planet. TreeRing plants one tree for every yearbook printed, and works in conjunction with Trees for the Future, a leading nonprofit organization providing economic opportunity and improving livelihoods worldwide. TreeRing has planted 35,000 trees this year.
