Top 50 U. S. Government Printing Office Suppliers for 2008 Announced

December 2008
CHAMBERSBURG, PA—December 2, 2008—The print suppliers that have been most successful in obtaining U. S. Government Printing Office (GPO) work during the Federal Fiscal Year 2008 have been announced by Government Print Management, the leading representative of print suppliers to government in the United States. Government Print Management is a division of e-LYNXX Corp.

"This is a much anticipated listing because it tells the industry who has won the most GPO work over the past year. Competition for this work is intense and on-going on a daily basis because it is lucrative and keeps many companies in business and profitable," said Deborah Snider, senior vice president of Government Print Management. "Those that do the best have a full understanding of governmental practices, policies and procedures. Most work with a print management firm that specializes in the government print market."

Of the more than 1,800 print suppliers that obtained GPO work during Fiscal Year 2008 (October 2007 through September 2008), Monarch Litho of Montebello, California, received the most work with $38 million awarded to them. The value of all GPO work awarded during this period was more than $421 million. Work done by the top 50 suppliers was valued at more than $287 million.

"Since 85 percent of the jobs that the GPO procures are for less than $3500, many suppliers find them to be ideal for filling what would otherwise be idle production time," Snider said. "By filling downtime, printers that consistently win GPO jobs improve their annual income from about 3% to 14% and sometimes more. The importance of securing GPO work has become even more significant as printers look for income opportunities during these difficult economic times."

Print suppliers that also were among the top 10 on the 2007 Top 50 List include; NPC of Claysburg, Pennsylvania; R.R. Donnelley of Chicago, Illinois; Gateway Press of Louisville, Kentucky; and Vertis of Baltimore, Maryland. Snider said many of the top 50 GPO suppliers are clients of Government Print Management and benefit from the company's government print management expertise and exclusive services.
