Sheridan Group Consolidates Plants

HUNT VALLEY, MD—The Sheridan Group plans to consolidate the printing operations of two of its subsidiary publications businesses into a single facility. The printing operations of United Litho, located in Ashburn, VA, will be consolidated into Dartmouth Printing’s facility in Hanover, NH. According to the Washington Business Journal, 80 jobs will be eliminated as a result.

Sales and customer service staff will continue to operate in the Dulles/Ashburn, VA, area to support customers. The Sheridan Group says it will provide both financial and job placement assistance to displaced United Litho employees during the production transition.

The company also announced the formation of The Sheridan Technology Lab, a division committed to developing and introducing technology-based solutions to support the journal, book, magazine and catalog publishing communities. Based in Hunt Valley, the lab provides research, development and project management support services to all Sheridan Group companies.
