This Gold Ink Awards entry from Las Vegas Color Graphics, in Las Vegas, titled “ARIA Resort Michael Jordan Invite” and entered into the Invitations category, beckons the avid golfer to a long weekend of sport and entertainment. This unique golf invite consists of two components—an envelope and invitation. It was sent by ARIA Resort & Casino inviting VIP recipients to its 12th Annual Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational. The event and date are boldly placed on the green front of the envelope. When recipients look at the invitation, they are immediately asked “Will You Accept Michael’s Challenge?”
The promotional piece was printed on an eight-color, 40″ Komori perfector press for a run length of 3,520 finished pieces. The invitation was printed on 100# porcelainECO Gloss Cover from Unisource. Heidi Bridges, president of Las Vegas Color Graphics, noted that four-color process, Flood Satin Aqueous Coating and Spot Gloss UV Coating were used for this project.
Each paper invite was accompanied by a satin “flag” invite, that was hand folded and then hand inserted along with the paper invite. Both rest in a metallic green bubble envelope.
“We do hundreds of very high-end invites every year for special events around the country,” said Bridges. “We’ve overnighted live orchids inside invite boxes and laser diecut the most intricate designs. But seldom do we have a request for an invite on paper that accompanies a satin fabric ‘flag’ announcing the event and acting as a keepsake for the recipient. We’ve won two Benjamin Franklin “Benny” awards for projects similar to this one. We look forward to unique and challenging projects like this. It keeps us on our toes and on the cutting edge of technology for the benefit of our customers.
