NPES The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies elected three new directors at its annual meeting in October. The new directors, elected to three-year terms expiring at the 2005 annual meeting, are: H.A. Brandtjen III, president, Brandtjen & Kluge, St. Croix Falls, WI; John Hamm, vice president of marketing, Xerox Corp., Worldwide Graphic Arts Business, McLean, VA; and Juergen Stolt, executive vice president, sales and marketing, Pantone Inc., Carlstadt, NJ. In addition, Edward McLoughlin, president of Oxy-Dry Corp., and Prime UV Systems received the 2002 Harold W. Gegenheimer Awards for Industry Service at the NPES conference.

Enovation Graphic Systems has named Paul Lynaugh as its electronic imaging manager for the Eastern region.

Heidelberg USA and 80 Sir Speedy franchisees recently met to address current challenges facing the short-run print market, discuss business growth strategies and participate in demonstrations to help the business owners maximize the benefits of their Heidelberg solutions. The key issues discussed among the group were the market's continual challenges to combat the soft economy and conservative attitudes about consumer spending. Additionally, Heidelberg used the day to get feedback from the owners on their key solution needs.

New York University's Center for Graphic Communications Management and Technology has appointed Jeff Jacobson, CEO of Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG), chairman of its advisory board. Jacobson joined the board in 1999. In other company news, KPG has announced four key appointments as part of a repositioning of the company. Richard Rindo serves as director of segment sales, including newspapers, channel sales and digital equipment. Todd Zimmerman is now director of field-based sales and national accounts. Bob Rohr assumes the position of director of sales and technical operations. Michele Laird-Williams has been named director of print media.

MAN Roland is integrating the newspaper and the commercial sides of its Web Press Project Management Team in an effort to focus more resources on large press installations. Under the integration plan, John Evans now directs both the Commercial Web and Newspaper Project Management teams. He previously headed the Commercial Web Project Management Group, as well as MAN Roland's North American Engineering Support Group. The Commercial Web and Newspaper Project Support groups are transferring from Stonington, CT, to MAN's headquarters in Westmont, IL. In other news, Thierry Barbeau has been named district sales manager, eastern Canadian region. He is based in Montreal. Also, John Manning is the new Western region general manager heading MAN Roland's Huntington Beach, CA, office.
