WESTAMPTON, NJ—MBO America President and CEO Hans Max and Vice President Hartmut Sohn welcomed 11 Chinese visitors for finishing equipment demonstrations and dialog at the MBO America headquarters here recently. Arranged by US-China Enterprises' New York branch, the guests represented five different printing companies and associations from China.

COLUMBUS, GA—Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) has dedicated its printing plate manufacturing facility here as the Edward E. Barr Building. Barr was KPG's first chairman and served on the board of the company until 2003. He retired in 2002 as chairman of Sun Chemical Group, following a 40-year career with the company.

Quad/Tech has added two sales professionals to its staff. Paul Burrows joins the company as Northeast regional sales manager. Joe Czaplewski moves from Quad/Tech's parent company, Quad/Graphics, to the position of Quad/Tech Color Control System (CCS) technical sales manager.

Glen Ashcraft, Western regional sales director for A.B.Dick, has retired after 50 years in the printing industry. Ashcraft has worked out of A.B.Dick's office in Tigard, OR, since 1997 after spending the first 43 years of his career with A.M. International. Replacing him is Kent Wolford, who has worked in Houston as the company's area sales manager since 2001.

Océ has named Daniel Powell to the position of senior vice president of sales for the Western United States and Mexico. Most recently, he was employed by Toshiba America Information Systems and, before that, at Xerox Corp.

The Research and Engineering Council of NAPL has presented its annual John L. Kronenberg Leadership Award to Lawrence Warter, director of new business development in the film, plates, proofing and electronic markets for Enovation, a Fujifilm company. The R&E Council also inducted Dr. Twyla Cummings, assistant professor, Rochester Institute of Technology's School of Print Media; John Sweeney, vice president of sales and marketing, Integrated Color Solutions (ICS); and Jeffrey White, director of MIS sales, EFI Inc., as members of its Nonpareil Society during the organization's Winter Steering Committee Meeting in Coral Springs, FL, in January.



Creo Americas reports that Martin Judge, business manager, Strategic Business Initiatives, will take on the responsibility for guiding the success of the recently announced reseller agreement with Xerox. The agreement expands the partnership between Creo and Xerox. Effective February 1, Creo will resell Xerox mid-range and entry-level production color digital presses in the United States and Canada. The two companies are also cooperating in the development of workflow software.
