Gämmerler Corp. announced record orders for the second quarter of fiscal year 2001, reporting a 34 percent increase in orders over the same period the previous year. The high order volume was attributed to a number of new orders placed at PRINT 01, including sales to R.R. Donnelley & Sons for four of its plants, as well as to Shuttle Printing and Suttle-Straus.
CM Acquisitions, a Chicago-based private equity firm, has agreed to acquire American Roller of Bannockburn, IL. The sale was effective as of December 28. Other terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) is acquiring the business assets of Tech Services International (TSI), a provider of technical service and support. The new company, a wholly owned subsidiary of KPG, will be headquartered in Kennett Square, PA. In other KPG news, Barbara M. Cederberg has been appointed corporate vice president, strategy and development. Cederberg is the former president of the Imation Color Technologies business unit and a vice president and corporate officer of Imation Corp.
Spinks Ink has promoted Bruce Oliva to the position of general manager. Oliva formerly served as national accounts manager.
A.B.Dick will relocate press manufacturing to Rochester, NY, in early 2002. The move is being made to consolidate facilities and resources. After the move is complete, its Niles, IL, facility will be closed. Worldwide headquarters for A.B.Dick will remain in Niles. The move is expected to be complete by the end of March and will result in the reduction of up to 175 employees worldwide. In other company news, A.B.Dick and Signature Printing have reached an agreement for Signature to sell A.B.Dick equipment and supplies in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.
Screen (USA) has hired Steven Scholl as its new Southern California regional sales manager. He is responsible for sales in the Los Angeles and San Diego markets, with his main focus concentrating on CTP equipment and workflow software.
Muller Martini USA has made several personnel moves. Al Katz has been named sales manager for the book binding division's hard cover market. James Kaeli joins Muller Martini as product manager for its bookbinding division. The company has decentralized its sales operations in the West, creating a Western regional sales group under the direction of Keith Murphy Jr. William King is the company's new Western regional sales manager.
Newly formed Enovation Graphic Systems made several personnel announcements. Michael E. Borne has been named director of business development. Phil Kane has been tapped as director of business development, electronic imaging. Also, Robert J. Kurelic is the new director of national account sales.
