IP Contest Winner Headed for Vacation
MEMPHIS, TN—International Paper Commercial Printing Papers has announced the winners of "The Best Ideas on Paper Sweepstakes," an online contest designed to encourage commercial printers to visit the company's Website, www.ipcommercialprinting.com.

After 41 years of service with the Bobst Group, Joe Fuchs, vice president, has retired. Fuchs trained in Switzerland as a diecutter specialist before moving to the U.S. full-time in 1967. He was promoted to vice president in 1978, where he was responsible for directing the service activities for all Bobst products sold here.

Georgia-Pacific has announced the appointment of Andrea Day as market manager for imaging papers. Day will coordinate Georgia-Pacific's strategy for developing digital printing markets, as well as work with equipment manufacturers to optimize digital imaging performance.

Muller Martini has hired Richard A. Allart and Daniel P. O'Brien as regional sales managers. Allart, working out of Farmington, UT, is responsible for the states of Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico. O'Brien, based out of Beaverton, OR, is responsible for Washington, Montana, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming and Alaska.

The Graphic Arts Marketing Information Service (GAMIS) selected Lawrence C. Warter, director of new business development for Fuji Photo Film USA, as the recipient of the Neil Richards Visionary Leadership Award. Warter received the award during the GAMIS quarterly meeting held in December.

The Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF) is now able to help printers analyze registration problems and can offer specific solutions to identified problems. The new service is made possible by Mitsubishi Lithographic Presses, which recently installed the Digital Register Analysis (DRA) at GATF. A method of establishing press performance standards, DRA automatically measures the precise unit-to-unit, sheet-to-sheet movement on the gear side, operator side, lead edge, tail edge and infeed.

Scitex Digital Printing recently announced several personnel moves. Jason Oliver has joined the company as director of page printing systems. Bob McDevitt has been named global sales support manager. Alice Schaefer has been appointed trade show and event manager. Also, Julius Binkis will serve as global service business manager.

Konica Graphic Imaging and ScenicSoft have signed an OEM agreement which will allow Konica to ship the complete line of ScenicSoft products, beginning with Preps 4.0, with the full line of Konica EV-jetsetters.

Fuji Hunt Photographic Chemicals has been selected as a charter member to receive an award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for a new program titled, National Environmental Performance Track. Carol Browner, administrator of the EPA, presented the award to Randy Block, quality projects manager of Fuji Hunt, in December. Fuji Hunt is one of a select group of corporations nationwide to receive this recognition from the EPA.
