Standard Denies Harassment Allegations

YORK, PA—Standard Register disputes the claim that a female employee at its facility here was driven out of her job because of sexual harassment, but the company will have to contend with a lawsuit that's been filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, according to the Dayton Daily News.

The suit contends that Penny Zink dealt with male co-workers who "repeatedly discriminated against and harassed her because of her sex," the paper said, quoting a commission statement. In addition to verbal insults, co-workers also failed to give her the needed assistance to work on a two-person machine and deprived her of information essential for the performance of her job. Zink was "forced to quit her job," the commission charges.

Dale McMichael, Standard Register's director of client relations, told the newspaper that his company denies the allegations in the lawsuit. "Standard Register takes pride in its policies and practices of treating all employees fairly," he told the News.
