June 30, 2010
GARDENA, CA—June 30, 2010—Southwest Offset Printing, Inc. (S.O.P.), one of the nation’s leading independently owned print providers, announced today that it has signed a long-term contract with Gannett, Inc.’s USA Today unit to provide print manufacturing services for the publication’s Northern California edition.

To accommodate the business, it was previously reported that Southwest will relocate its Redwood City, CA, manufacturing operation to nearby San Jose. The 68,000 sq.ft. facility will include two web offset press lines, complete bindery and inserting capabilities and fully-digital prepress and production operations. The facility will be operational during Q3 2010.

S.O.P. is a leading provider of outsourced print manufacturing solutions for nationwide and regional publishers. The company’s clients include The New York Times, The Financial Times, Investors Business Daily, the Los Angeles Business Journal and the Long Beach Press Telegram.

Company founder and CEO Greg McDonald has guided the company in its efforts to align itself with industry leaders in print. He adds, “As the economics of the news business evolves, many publishers have opted to invest in news gathering, investigative reporting and communications technology while outsourcing their manufacturing needs to print experts such as S.O.P. We view our client relationships as a recipe for success in the changing media mix.”

Southwest Offset Printing operates manufacturing facilities in both Southern and Northern California. It operates six cold web and three heat set press lines and produces over 300 publication titles annually. An FSC-certified facility operating 24/7, Southwest Offset Printing maintains a 99.9% record of on-time delivery and leads the industry in low spoilage percentages.
