NewPage Won't Keep January Price Increase
December 22, 2010
MIAMISBURG, OH—NewPage Corp. has reportedly decided not to implement a $20-$50/ton price increase for coated and uncoated papers. The increase, announced in late November, would have taken effect in January.
Several sources speculated that no other paper companies were implementing price increases, which would have hampered NewPage from a competitive standpoint had it kept the $20-$50/ton bump. Softness in the paper market is likely helping to keep prices down.
