CHICAGO—RR Donnelley has developed what it claims is the industry's first 60" wide, high-speed inkjet digital press. The new presses, expected to be deployed in the first half of 2011, will enhance the company's fleet of proprietary ProteusJet digital printing units.
RR Donnelley's global platform features a broad array of proprietary and commercially available technologies. Its digital press platform will include nearly 20 ProteusJet presses by year end and the company expects to deploy an average of one new ProteusJet press per month through early 2012. One recently expanded production facility alone will utilize five ProteusJet presses to produce trade and educational books.
