Quebecor World Logistics First in Industry to Run Mixed Class Co-Mail to Help Customers Reduce Postal Costs

February 2008
MONTRÉAL—2/13/2008—Quebecor World Logistics (TSX: IQW) is the first in the industry to offer its customers mixed-class co-mail that combines Periodical and Standard class mail pieces into a single offline co-mail offering. This gives our customers improved flexibility of a pool but also the industry’s quickest turn-around time, unattainable in a single class co-mail run. The mixed-class, short-run pool conducted at Quebecor World Logistics’ Bolingbrook, IL co-mail facility will now become part of QWL’s superior co-mail process, creating enhanced value to Quebecor World’s quality print product.

Customers using Quebecor World Logistics’ mixed class co-mail solutions in combination with additional mailing optimization programs are able to realize savings on their overall mailing costs while improving delivery times.

Christy Martin, Distribution Director at Penton Media, commented on this first mailing of Periodical and Standard class mail pieces by Quebecor World, “We view mixed-class co-mail as working to our mutual advantage - with the possibility of allowing for even faster turn-around time and more frequent pools. We are privileged to be the first publisher to participate in QWL’s innovative co-mailing environment, particularly at this time when the United States Postal Service is making significant changes in how they process and handle mail.”

“Quebecor World Logistics is pleased to be the first in the industry to offer this new service. The process of combining Periodical and Standard class mail into the same co-mail pool is a fundamental breakthrough in advancing the efficiency in mailing services. Coupled with our soon to be deployed new co-mail services in the Northeast, we are pleased to pioneer the highly anticipated mixed co-mail process. This will provide the shortest turn-around time in the industry and additional flexibility to our valued customers, further solidifying our leadership in the co-mail industry,” said Val Scansaroli, SVP of Mailing Services at Quebecor World Logistics.

In May of 2007, Quebecor World announced the expansion of its co-mail platform into the Northeast with two new 30-pocket machines. In addition, QWL entered into an exclusive two-year purchase agreement with SIM Products Co. for two 30-pocket co-mail machines and secured the option to purchase the next four machines produced by SIM.

Quebecor World Logistics is continuing to create higher levels of value for its customers by proactively managing and mitigating the impact of the upcoming postal rate increase while further enhancing QWL’s best in class service in overall distribution. In this value creation process, mixed-class co-mail will become a part of the currently-provided QWL services, which include logistics and mail list services for all Quebecor World Logistics and various third party customers, handling multiple commodities including catalogs, direct mail pieces, magazines (subscriber copies and newsstand), newspaper inserts, books and bulk printed product.
