Printer Takes Delivery of Show Press

CONYERS, GA—4D Printing, based here, has taken delivery of the six-color, 23x29˝ Rapida 75 press plus coater that KBA North America debuted at PRINT 09 in September. Doug Silsbee, vice president at the general commercial printer, says, "We don't have a sales force; our loyal customers spread the word about our quality and service. Adding the new KBA Rapida 75 to our pressroom enhances our abilities with its automation, speed, fast throughput and high quality."

The new Rapida 75 was installed and running only days after the show. 4D Printing fingerprinted the press to its existing two-year-old, six-color, 41˝ Rapida 105 perfector with aqueous coating capability. Now, Silsbee can move jobs from one press to the other and produce the same high quality.

Shop Adds Fourth New Insert Press

INDIANA, PA—A Goss C550 web press with DigiRail digital inking technology recently went into production at Creps United Publications. The C550 system is the fourth new Goss insert press installed by the printer since 2001. It was added to increase overall capacity.

According to Jake Creps, a partner with the company, the performance of the previous Goss presses, along with new makeready and efficiency features, led to the selection. "Our operators have been very impressed with the consistency and operability of the DigiRail technology," explains Creps. "Once the ink settings are established, they don't have to adjust them, and this allows them to achieve very high print quality with less effort and less waste."
