It’s All About Decreasing Press Makeready Time

CINCINNATI—SpringDot, a fourth-generation, general commercial printer, recently installed a six-color Komori Lithrone S40 with coating capabilities. “We have a consistent demand for high-quality, short-run work, so the fast makereadies offered by the Komori press are ideal,” notes Joshua Deutsch, president and CEO of SpringDot.

Speedmaster XL 105 Trifecta Makes Moquin Press Fast and Flexible

BELMONT, CA—Moquin Press acquired its first Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105 in 2005, followed by another XL 105 in 2006. The trade printer recently purchased its third XL 105, this one a six-color model equipped with four interdeck UV dryers, Instant Start, DryStar Advanced, Color Assistant and Instant Gate.


ARIZONA

TEMPE—Ironwood Lithographers, a Consolidated Graphics company, reports it is the first printer in Arizona to achieve GRACoL G7 master certification through IDEAlliance. 

CALIFORNIA

CITY OF INDUSTRY—To print on 40-pt. board and branch into packaging, Pacific Graphics recently purchased a Mitsubishi Diamond V3000LX sheetfed press equipped with SimulChanger automated plate changers and the Diamond Color Navigator color adjustment system.

GRASS VALLEY—The Union, a Swift Communications publication, has become the first newspaper in North America to install an Agfa Advantage N-SL computer-to-plate system. All Swift printing facilities have now converted to Agfa-based CTP workflows.

SANTA CLARA—PrintPapa recently introduced wholesale trade printing services to the graphic arts community in the San Francisco Bay area. To offer these services, the company installed a Presstek 34 DI, Xerox DocuColor 5000, off-line UV coater and a Morgana Autocreaser.

FLORIDA

MAITLAND—Moving into full-size printing, Abbott Printing recently purchased a four-color Heidelberg XL 105 press with coater, a Suprasetter 105 thermal platesetter and an automated Stahlfolder TH 82 folder.

ORLANDO—C&S Printing has committed to a new four-color Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 52 with an Anicolor inking unit for its short-run work. The press can print up to 30,000 sph in letter-sized format.

SARASOTA—Coastal Printing is reporting success after serving as the first U.S. installation of Mitsubishi’s V3000 sheetfed press series. In December, Coastal installed a six-color Diamond V3000LS with tower coater.

GEORGIA

ATLANTA—Complete Printing Services, an offset and digital printer for more than 20 years, has changed its name to Fuse Graphics. The new monicker is intended to reflect the company’s new cross-media capabilities.
