New Stitcher Speeds Production
PITTSBURGH—Since installing a Muller Martini BravoPlus-T saddlestitcher, Geyer Printing, a Consolidated Graphics company, reports it has gained noticeable improvements in setup times and overall production speed.
“We’ve only had the new BravoPlus-T running for a short time, and the ease of makeready has already proven to be a big advantage,” notes Scott Barthelmes, president of Geyer Printing. “The faster run time and operator-friendly print finishing functions also offer great benefits.”
Geyer Printing has been a user of Muller Martini finishing machinery for several decades, which lead to the decision to step up to the BravoPlus-T.
“Our previous Muller stitcher operated efficiently for about 30 years,” Barthelmes informs.
Equipment Comes to California
AZUSA , CA—Excell Bindery recently installed a 42˝ Rollem TR double head scoring, perforating and slitting system along with a 42˝ DM continuous feeder. A Rollem PB-16 drilling system was also added.
Dual Installations Bolster Bindery
BALTIMORE —Bindagraphics Inc. recently purchased two new binding machines that will enhance the trade bindery’s mechanical and adhesive binding capabilities. Bindagraphics has installed a high-speed, fully automated Kugler-Womako binding machine and a 24-pocket Kolbus Publica adhesive binding line.
The Kugler-Womako equipment is specifically designed to produce plastic coil and spiral wire-bound products. This machine is one of the first of its kind to be supplied to a trade bindery in the United States. It will enable Bindagraphics to offer completely automated and in-line plastic coil and spiral wire binding.
Bound and trimmed three-side book blocks can be automatically fed into the machine, pass through a spine trimming section, punch and bind in one continuous operation. Alternatively, collated books can be fed into the machine for in-line punching and binding.
The 24-pocket, 12,000 books-per-hour Kolbus Publica features optical signature recognition to eliminate misfeeds and an automatic makeready console for fast setups. The new binder can run two-up formats for faster throughput, and can bind books with up to a 36˝ spine.
The Kolbus Publica can perform perfect binding and lay-flat adhesive binding using PUR and conventional glues.
