Bindery workers at Quebecor World's Effingham, IL, plant will not reconsider the company's final contract offer, according to the Effingham Daily News. There are approximately 400 union bindery workers at the plant. Quebecor World management says it has growing concerns about the future viability of the plant because of the competitive magazine printing market and the high cost structure of the plant. As of presstime, Graphic Communications International Union representatives are moving to request additional meetings.

Atlanta-based priNexus Inc. has announced several staff changes. Larry Klotz has been named vice president of sales and national sales manager. For the past 12 years, Klotz has held sales management responsibilities for Rand McNally, World Color and Quebecor World Book Services. Todd Kalagher has been named executive vice president/general manager of priNexus' Hartford location (formerly Finlay Brothers Printing). He has held management positions at Finlay in both operations and information systems and most recently was vice president of sales. Also, Mark Levy is the new CFO for the company. He joined priNexus in 2002 as vice president of finance and controller.

Peter Faucetta Sr., former chairman, CEO and founder of Integrated Graphics (IGI), will head The Kordet Group, New York City. The new Kordet Group will manage outsourcing services that will combine manufacturing assets through channel partnering in manufacturing, distribution and fulfillment throughout North America.

Barbara Cole-Barkie has joined the Padgett Printing sales team, bringing more than 20 years of experience in the printing industry to the Dallas-based company.

Mike McHugh has joined Classic Graphics, Morrisville, NC, as an account manager. He has 20 years of experience in the printing industry.

Barry Heyman has been hired as senior vice president for Enterprise, New York City. Previously, he served as president and general manager of Mail-Well's John D. Lucas plant in Baltimore.

David C. Branch, president of Branch-Smith Printing, Fort Worth, TX, has been named the recipient of the 2003 Sheetfed Executive of the Year Award by the National Association for Printing Leadership, the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation and the Printing Industries of America. Branch is the ninth award recipient.

Gregory Iott has joined Banta Book Group, Menasha, WI, as market sector vice president. Previously, he held management positions at J.J. Keller, and served as vice president of catalog management at Miles Kimball and more recently as vice president of business development with 4Imprint.

Charles Wolfe and Vernie Gullick, lead pressmen at Worth Higgins & Associates, Richmond, VA, have achieved National Council Expert Level Sheetfed Offset Press Operator certification from the National Council for Skills Standards in Graphic Communications. This designation recognizes an exceptional level of knowledge about offset press operations, the handling of raw materials and quality control of the finished product. Ten pressmen at Worth Higgins have now attained this skill level.
