Janet Green Receives the Lewis Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award
PITTSBURGH—Nov. 17, 2010—Printing Industries of America is pleased to announce that Janet Green, CEO of Greens Printing in Irvine, CA, is the recipient of the 2010 Lewis Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award. Established in 1960, the Lewis Award is recognized throughout the graphic arts industry as the highest honor awarded to an individual. Named for Abraham Lewis, founder of Graphics Arts Monthly, and his sons Louis and Myron, the award honors a business leader who has gone far beyond standard obligations to become a significant force in shaping the business of producing printed communications.
Green has more than 27 years of experience in the graphic arts industry with Greens Printing in Southern California. She took over as President of the company in the 1980s when her father retired. Now CEO, she has steered her company through the recent economic recession. Greens Printing is flourishing as a division of Precision Offset in Irvine, CA.
Since 1995 Janet has been actively involved with the Printing Industries of America of Southern California (PIASC). Janet has served on, and ultimately chaired, the Finance, Government Affairs, and Public Relations Committees of the PIASC. In 1999 she became one of the youngest people in PIASC's history to serve as Chairman of the Board. In 2004 she was recognized as PIASC's Executive of the year. Most recently, Janet has served as Chairman of PIASC's Supervisory Committee.
Green served as the first female chairman of the board for Printing Industries of America in 2007. During her term she embraced the industry's movement toward sustainability and operating with "eco-friendly" processes. She increased awareness of the "green" issues facing our industry by speaking on this topic at more than 10 chapter events during her 12-month term.
In September 2009, Green’s contributions to the industry were recognized with the honor of being the third woman inducted in the Printing Impressions/Rochester Institute of Technology Printing Industry Hall of Fame.
Therese F. Fleming, western region group controller at Consolidated Graphics, says of Janet Green, “Janet approaches business the way she approaches life--with humor, compassion and intelligence. She connects with employees, customers, and industry peers on a deeper level, making each feel like a valued partner. She is a resource for her customers on how to print better, faster, and smarter. She truly has a passion for people and print.”
Green was awarded the Lewis Lifetime Achievement Award during the Ben Franklin Honor Society Black Tie dinner held Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, in San Francisco, CA. For additional information on the Lewis Award, contact Sara Welsh at (800) 910-4283 ext. 705 or swelsh@printing.org.
