Convicted Printer Defrauds Ohio School District

August 20, 2010
TOLEDO, OH—A printer twice previously convicted of theft in two schemes now faces up to 40 years in prison for defrauding a school system. John Briggle, of Superior Offset Supplies, was indicted on one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity and six counts of tampering with records, according to the Toledo Blade.

Briggle and co-conspirator Daniel Burns are accused of stealing more than $687,000 from Toledo Public Schools (TPS) between 2002 and 2006, the Blade reported. Burns is a former TPS administrator.

In addition, Briggle was found guilty on Tuesday of bilking Toledo Hospital of nearly $150,000. He faces up to five years in prison for that conviction. These thefts were uncovered by investigators while looking into the TPS defrauding.
