PRINT 01--International Flavor

September 2001
CHICAGO—The American answer to DRUPA and IPEX comes to town September 6-13.

PRINT 01, the mega printing, publishing and converting industry trade exhibition, returns to the McCormick Place complex. The show shares a four-year rotation with major international exhibitions in other parts of the world, including DRUPA in Germany and IPEX in the United Kingdom. This year's PRINT show is expected to attract visitors from more than 100 countries.

PRINT 01 will occupy the North and South halls of McCormick Place. The South Hall is devoted to presses, pressroom systems, finishing and converting products. Across the McCormick Place Grand Concourse, both levels in the North Hall will offer additional press system and converting displays, along with various digital prepress and prepublishing technologies.

"PRINT will offer U.S. visitors an opportunity to see many exhibitors that don't routinely display their products in this country," notes Regis Delmontagne, president of the Graphic Arts Show Co. (GASC).

While there is much to be seen on the show floor, PRINT 01 also offers a wide variety of educational forums for show attendees. The 2001 seminar program features 81 seminars on business, production, packaging/converting and prepublishing.

Three brunch presentations will cover e-commerce, workflows and the future of printed products. Three general sessions will focus on key industry trends. Finally, five moderated industry panels and five moderated user panels will discuss computer-to-plate, direct imaging and digital printing, e-business and workflow issues.

With an abundance of educational sessions and more than 1 million square feet of floor space for attendees to transverse, advanced planning is essential. To ensure a successful show visit, GASC is again offering the Attendee Assistant, a Web-based show planning tool.

"We launched Attendee Assistant in recognition of the fact that an exhibition as large and diverse as Graph Expo & Converting Expo puts extraordinary pressure on a visitor's time and attention," adds Delmontagne. "We wanted to make it easy for visitors to learn as much as possible in advance about the show, its exhibitors and other features, so that they can use their time at McCormick Place wisely."

Attendee Assistant enables show visitors to obtain information about exhibitors and products, get answers to specific questions, plan their show visits, create an on-site itinerary and arrange to receive information from their selected exhibitors automatically after the event.

For PRINT, GASC has expanded the Attendee Assistant tool offerings with such additional features as an optional e-mail reminder program, which allows industry professionals to sign up to receive the latest news and exhibitor information. The "My Exhibitors" feature, which enables attendees to receive personalized news and product information from exhibitors, will also be enhanced.

The Website also supports online show registration, seminar enrollment and hotel reservations. Attendee Assistant can be accessed through the GASC Website at www.gasc.org.
