PressWise by SmartSoft to Preview New Job Costing at Dscoop9

March 4, 2014
AGOURA HILLS, CA—March 4, 2014—SmartSoft will be previewing all-new job costing and shop floor data collection tools, along with other print workflow enhancements for PressWise, the all-in-one print MIS and workflow automation solution, at Dscoop9 in Orlando, FL. The sold-out event for print service providers runs from March 6-8, 2014, and SmartSoft will be situated in Booth 411.

PressWise offers a single, cloud-based MIS and print workflow platform designed to manage a growing digital print business. This all-in-one system includes Web-to-print Storefronts, Estimating, Order Management, Production Automation, Shipping and Fulfillment, and Mail Processing. PressWise was designed as an alternative to purchasing or developing separate programs for Web Storefronts, Print Workflow Management, Print MIS and Direct Mail processing software.

The new Job Costing features will provide key data and reports designed to provide a greater level of scrutiny into print shop performance. Management can view real-time performance indicators to ensure the health of their operations and the efficiency of their workflow. Examples include job cost analysis, estimated vs actual costs per job, cost variance reports and more.

“We’re looking forward to presenting these comprehensive new features to another record-size Dscoop audience,” said Eric Wold, vice president of SmartSoft. “Dscoop attendees in general are a very forward-thinking group and we are fortunate to have a number of PressWise customers on the board of Dscoop. They recognized early on the need to change their workflows to meet the increased demands for shorter run jobs and faster turnarounds. Besides investing in the digital side of their business, they saw the need to eliminate as many touches from their workflow as possible and run their entire operation more efficiently, which is exactly what PressWise lets them do.”

“While we will always stand by our commitment to 'lean printing' and avoid the overwhelming amount of administrative overhead and paperwork that can often accompany traditional MIS systems," he continued, "based on ongoing dialog with our customers, we recognized a desire for increased cost analysis and reporting." Customers now have the ability to close the loop on their costs of production and job profitability, so they can analyze their workflow and highlight areas for improvement.

Eric Wold will be hosting a presentation during Dscoop entitled Breaking The Mold: Print MIS For A Digital World, on Saturday, March 8, in the Naples Suite at 1:30 p.m. He will be discussing the effect that the changing market for print has had on print providers’ workflows, and what printers should be looking for when considering the print management solution that is right for their business.
