PRESS: Set feed table grippers properly

October 2006

Feed table grippers for sheetfed GTO and single-sheet MO's must be set carefully for the press to function properly. When installing these grippers, care must be taken that they sit on the pads evenly.

A good way to do this is to move the press so that the grippers are just closing on the sheet at the feeder. Use a thin sheet of paper and make two small strips. Put one small strip in the front of the gripper, and another in the back side. Make sure the gripper closes on each strip at the same time. They must make good contact for the press trip mechanism to work properly.
