Polyester printing plates offer a cost-effective alternative to metal printing plates, particularly in short run lengths of up to 20,000 copies. For the Printmaster QM 46, Heidelberg recommends using polyester plates with a rough reverse side because they guarantee secure handling for plate clamping and the diagonal setting. They also ensure dimensional accuracy.
After clamping, predampen the polyester plate. Include a predampening interval whenever printing is interrupted by dampening the plate a few revolutions. The control panel of the Printmaster QM 46 makes it quick and easy to adjust the predampening level for an individual polyester plate as needed.
