POSTPRESS To halve and to hold

Sometimes material needs to be cut in two before further processing. If the material's squareness and dimensional accuracy are correct for the job, it can be halved right away. Otherwise, start with an angular cut, making sure to adjust the proper clamping pressure before starting the cutting program. Cut the paper on the short side, aligning it against the backgauge and one side gauge.

After the initial cut, the material is ready to be halved, and the backgauge moves the paper to the programmed position. When the “align material” function is used in this position, the clamp does not return to its upper home position after the cut, but holds the rear ream for a preset period of time. This lets the operator align the cut material against the rear sheets. The “programmable ejector” function then takes the material to a position where it can be conveniently unloaded.
