Compensating cuts

April 2007

Sometimes the printed image is not positioned straight on the sheet. With POLAR cutters, the inaccuracy can be corrected using the optional swivel backgauge. A motorized angle compensation feature makes it possible to rotate the material parallel to the desired cutting line for a corrective cut. Depending on the correction required, the operator can modify the parallel position of the backgauge in relation to the knife.

The backgauge compensation can be performed manually at any time via the swivel and tilting backgauge keypad on the control panel. The feature is automatically added on cutting programs generated with block programming or with Compucut, POLAR’s modular software system for generating cutting programs from prepress data.
