Photo Labs Expands Digital Printing Services with Kodak Nexpress

September 2006
ROCHESTER, NY— Sept. 11—Miller’s Professional Imaging, the largest color portrait and wedding lab in the United States, has seen continued growth in business and customer satisfaction since installing its Kodak Nexpress 2100 plus digital production color press eight months ago at its Columbia, MO, facility. The company has expanded its range of services, made possible by the Nexpress digital press, to include photo books, calendars, greeting cards and postcards, creating new revenue opportunities for Miller’s Professional Imaging and its customers. The anticipated print volume from both the professional and Mpix businesses led Miller’s Professional Imaging to recently add a second Kodak Nexpress 2500 digital production color press for its lab in Pittsburg, KS.

“As customer demand continues to grow for unique applications, we looked at ways we could differentiate our business from the competition and maintain the loyalty of customers by providing new products that make a powerful impact,” said Richard Miller, CEO at Miller’s Professional Imaging. “The Kodak Nexpress 2100 and Kodak Nexpress 2500 presses allow us to move beyond the confines of traditional photographic printing. Our customers are very pleased with the artistic effects and various creative products that we now offer with the Nexpress digital presses, and our staff loves the flexibility of the workflow in our digital environment.”

The Kodak Nexpress 2100 and Kodak Nexpress 2500 digital production color presses meet a variety of needs from entry level to very high volume environments. As their businesses grow, customers are able to upgrade presses with options for increased paper capacity and processing capability, and a fifth imaging unit for delivery of spot color, watermarking and protective coating. The GATF InterTech Award winning Kodak Nexpress fifth imaging unit solutions also enable high impact glossing in conjunction with the Kodak Nexglosser glossing unit.

Kodak’s history of support combined with Kodak’s high quality photo reproduction, image area durability, watermarking and gloss coatings, and robust press performance were key factors in Miller’s decision to purchase the Nexpress digital production color presses.

In addition to Kodak’s advanced printing technology, Miller’s Professional Imaging relies on a team of Kodak specialists as a critical part of their success.

“Kodak Professional Services allow us to tap into industry resources and experts who guide us through various implementation strategies to help ensure the rapid adoption of digital technologies, as well as provide new integrated services for our customers. Similar to our experience with the traditional photo workflow and Kodak Professional Digital Print Production Software DP2, Kodak resources have successfully supported our growth,” added Miller. “The end result will be increased productivity, optimized operations, and new value added products and services that photographers are looking for.”
