NPES Expands Presence in Asia with New Indonesia Office, Marco Gandasubrata Tapped as Director
RESTON, Va. — May 2, 2016 — NPES The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies, announces an addition to the Association's international trade team with the hiring of Marco Gandasubrata as director, NPES Indonesia. The official opening of NPES's newest international office in April, staffed with a full-time representative, now solidifies the Association's presence in Jakarta, Indonesia. Here, in this expanding Asian print market, NPES members can now utilize direct in-country resources to make new business contacts and successfully support their strategic export initiatives.
The office and new director role were created as a result of the project and award NPES received from the International Trade Administration's (ITA) Market Development Cooperator Program to facilitate and boost exports by the printing, publishing, and converting industry to Indonesia. Over the next three years, these funds are projected to generate an estimated $5 million in exports to Indonesia — the world's fourth largest population and Southeast Asia's largest economy — by NPES members across the U.S.
"The NPES Indonesia office will serve to augment NPES members' understanding of the Indonesian market and provide a number of direct programs and services to facilitate their successful entry and sales efforts," says NPES President Thayer Long. Featuring a base of over 4,000 active printing companies (commercial, publishing, packaging and converters), a population of 250+ million people, and a new democratically elected government, Indonesia is a market of great opportunity for U.S. products. In fact, according to the NPES 2013 study, "World-Wide Market for Print: Identifying Global Opportunities for the Print Industry," Indonesia is expected to become the most rapidly growing print market in the Asia Pacific region, surpassing the market growth of even China.
Marco Gandasubrata, the new NPES representative in Indonesia, is a seasoned professional with over 13 years of experience in the graphic arts industry. His past industry experience includes positions with Heidelberg Indonesia and the Eastman Kodak Company, serving as head of sales and marketing and country manager – Indonesia, respectively. He is well regarded by the international industry community and maintains a strong network within Indonesia and the entire South-East Asia region. Gandasubrata holds a BA in Finance from the Sonoma State University (California) and an MBA in Marketing & Finance from the Claremont Graduate School (California).
