Modernistic Installs Agfa Jeti 3020 Titan Grand-Format Inkjet Printer

November 21, 2011
RIDGEFIELD PARK, NJ—Nov. 21, 2011—Agfa Graphics announced that Modernistic Inc., a leading supplier of point-of-purchase signage based in Stillwater, MN, has installed the :Jeti 3020 Titan high-production, high-resolution UV-inkjet printer. The machine is a field-upgradeable, grand-format inkjet printing system that offers 10 different levels of speed and capability.

It features a maximum print area of 124x79.5˝ and Ricoh Gen 4 grayscale print heads resulting in fast, high-quality CMYK output with the ability to deliver 1,200-dpi printing for photorealistic image quality. The Titan also offers a flat-to-roll option.

“The Agfa Titan represents a simple, but proven, platform engaged with high quality and productive speeds. The simplicity of operation and fast changeovers make it ideal for our operation and a cost effective addition to our slate of capabilities,” said Scott Schulte, co-CEO, Modernistic. “The low ink consumption and true 1,200-dpi resolution fills a void for customers looking for ‘near litho’ quality on lower volume products, for small images and close up viewing conditions. Our customers will be thrilled.”

Starting with a base configuration of 16 heads, the :Jeti 3020 Titan is easily field-upgradeable up to 48 heads to achieve productivity up to 2,430 sq.ft./hr. Head configuration choices include a doubling of the CMYK set for higher throughput, white and varnish for artistic effects and even higher quality with light cyan and light magenta. To extend color gamut, orange and violet will be added.

“We are excited at the range of possibilities the Titan can offer,” Schulte added. “We are starting with a 32-head configuration and will add orange and violet in the future for a broader color gamut and the ability to hit more spot colors.”

In addition to its wide color gamut, the Titan can print on any flat substrate up to two inches thick and achieves high productivity by printing multiple boards simultaneously.

“Technology moves rapidly, and with the :Jeti 3020 Titan you won’t be left behind when you need to keep pace with your customers,” said Deborah Hutcheson, director of marketing, Agfa Graphics, North America. “Modernistic has been a member of the Agfa family for a long time. We look forward to our continued partnership and helping them serve their clients with the highest quality POP materials on the market.”
