MFSA Concludes Successful Conference in Chicago
ALEXANDRIA, VA—June 19, 2009—The Mailing & Fulfillment Service Association (MFSA) concluded its Annual Conference + Mailing & Fulfillment EXPO on June 6 in Chicago. This three-day event brought together more than 225 individuals from across the U.S. and Canada representing mailing or fulfillment companies and their suppliers.
More than 19 hours of industry-specific sessions, some standing room only, educated, informed and entertained attendees. Conference keynote presenter, Dr. Scott Latham, presented his findings on a recent industry study that detailed how MFSA members are responding to the current economic recession. The final keynote session for the conference was on “Messages of Hope” for the industry – delivered by two MFSA members who have been forced to close their doors due to the economy’s impact. After compiling the evaluation forms, this year’s Annual Conference received the highest overall rating for educational sessions of the past three Annual Conferences. In response to the positive feedback, two of the educational sessions will be repeated online via webinars this July.
Adding to the value of the conference, the Mailing & Fulfillment EXPO showcased 32 booths where the Opening Welcome Reception was very crowded and full of great conversation.
Included in the conference was the Annual Awards Gala where 22 companies were recognized in 10 categories for their Awards of Excellence, which recognizes excellence and innovation in the direct mail and fulfillment industry, and is an excellent showcase of work members are proud to produce. Another highlight of the Awards program was the recognition of the Three Personal Achievement recipients. The Leo G. Bernheimer Award was presented to C. Scott Schuh of LSC Marketing, AR, the Luke Kaiser Educational Award was presented to Norm Pegram with PremieirIMS, Inc., TX, and the Robert M. Huse Chapter Achievement Award was presented to Ted Kulpinski of W.A Wilde Company, MA. The final awards were recognized for longevity in the association. There were a total of 18 MFSA milestone members recognized, with Valpak and World Marketing-Dallas both receiving recognition for their 35 years of membership. Dinner, dancing, camaraderie, and general merriment followed the awards program.
