MCS Unveils Ink-jet, Camera Systems
October 2008MCS' theme at Graph Expo 2008 is Profitibality! MCS is launching new products all geared to either help our customers expand revenue or reduce costs. The competitive environment of the direct mail industry demands that industry suppliers help their customers reach profitable markets with equipment that gives them capabilities that are unique - while also helping them reduce labor and operational costs.
The President of MCS, David Loos commented, "This year, more than ever, our customers are focusing on investments with a high return and quick payback - but they still want to buy from a low-risk vendor". Loos added, "With a full product range of camera systems, inkjets with digital workflow, and transport systems - all manufactured and supported by MCS - these customers are embracing new systems with confidence that the industry leader is behind them".
HP Process Color Demonstration
MCS will be showing a demonstration of HP's new Scalable Print Technology which produces 4-color images at 600x600 DPI at speeds up to 400 feet per minute with a print width of 4.25 inches. The technology, under development by MCS and HP, will enable direct-mailers to put 4 color images on envelopes and mailings at 20,000 pieces per hour inline with inserters and mail transport tables. The low cost of operation will make it viable for eliminating some pre-printed envelopes as well as adding 4-color targeted messaging on the outside of envelopes at high speed.
MCS Perfect Match for Card Attachers
With the growing market for personalized plastic cards (such as gift cards) the MCS Perfect Match family has been expanded to include Read-and-Print capabilities just for this market. The MicroVision camera is now capable of reading the back of barcoded plastic cards--within the card feeder. This is possible with the MicroVision camera--the smallest in the industry.
MCS 4250 Plus
MCS is introducing a new controller from the ground-up for the high speed 4250 inkjet platform. With the new controller, the 4250+ can now operate at speeds up to 1200 feet per minute at 600x150DPI. It also allows additional intermediate resolutions of 600x200DPI and 600x400 DPI as well as 600x300DPI. The new controller provides a doubling of internal data rates and has enhanced algorithms for controlling head- wiping and capping so that idle time is minimized.
