Mail-Well to Acquire Four More Companies

PHOENIX—Englewood, CO-based Mail-Well has entered into definitive agreements to acquire Imperial Litho & Dryography, a $26 million web and sheetfed printer based here, and Trafton Printing, an $8.5 million sheetfed operation in Amarillo, TX.

"We are extremely fortunate that the senior management teams of both companies will continue with us in their current positions," says Gerald F. Mahoney, chairman and CEO of Mail-Well. Both will become part of Mail-Well's Commercial Printing Group.

Malcolm Marr, president and CEO of Imperial, notes: "We strongly believe that Mail-Well offers Imperial the greatest opportunity for continued success. Joining forces will help us stay current with rapidly changing printing technology as well as give us the ability to meet virtually any printing need."

Rick Trafton, president and CEO of Trafton and grandson of the company founder, adds, "We are excited about the opportunity to offer our customers access to new printing services, especially Mail-Well's web capabilities."

Meanwhile, Girard, KS-based business communications documents printers Perfection Forms, a division of Continuous Forms and Checks, and Apico Corporation were also acquired by Mail-Well. The combined 1997 sales of the companies were approximately $20 million.

Paul V. Reilly, Mail-Well president and COO, says the two firms will be merged to form the Apico-Perfection division of its Poser business communications group. Jerry Leeds, currently the president of Apico, will serve as the general manager of the new Apico-Perfection division.

"Our distributor customers, and those of Poser, will now have a broader range of products to sell, and will continue to receive the same highest levels of quality and service in our industry," Leeds explains. Reporting 1997 sales of almost $900 million, Mail-Well currently has a run rate in excess of $1.6 billion in revenues.
