Lynne Alexander Named CEO of The Bureau of Engraving, Inc.
MINNEAPOLIS—January 29, 2010—Lynne Alexander was named chairman and CEO of The Bureau, a 110-year-old national commercial printing business based in Minneapolis. The Bureau provides point-of-purchase, digital and offset printing, packaging/labels and analytical marketing services to many of the biggest names in retail.
Alexander served on The Bureau’s board of directors for over 25 years and has worked in the retail and graphic design consulting her entire career. Women now hold the majority of seats on The Bureau’s board of directors.
She succeeds Tom Stuart, who will continue as president of The Art Instruction School, Inc., which was founded by The Bureau. “Lynne’s depth of knowledge in the printing and retail business gives her a unique understanding of the printing, point-of-purchase signage and related services most needed by The Bureau’s customers,” Stuart said. “Her appointment is also a clear statement of commitment to promoting women and minorities within the company and the industry.”
While serving on The Bureau’s board, Alexander took leadership roles on the committees that helped lead the transition to the current 130,000 square foot headquarters in N.E. Minneapolis and the many technology upgrades. Alexander also did human resource consulting with all of The Bureau’s divisions, where she helped grow the hiring of females and minorities to nearly 40 percent of the current company workforce.
Alexander owned a consulting business from 1991 until September 2009, doing graphic design for small and mid-sized businesses. She owned two Great Clips franchises in Rochester, Minnesota and Mason City, Iowa, and worked for Dayton’s department stores in store management and operations capacities.
Alexander is past president and has been a member of the Rotary Club of Richfield since 1990; she also worked for District 5950, which encompasses 63 area Rotary Clubs. She currently is president of the Richfield United Methodist Church Foundation and has served as the church’s president/administrative board chair and president of the board of trustees. Alexander graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. degree in retail merchandising.
