Lightning Strikes Printing Press at TX-Based Triangle Press, Delaying Newspaper Delivery
ORANGE, TX—June 25, 2014—Triangle Press, located here, reported damage to its printing equipment and loss of power after a line of thunderstorms moved through late Tuesday afternoon, knocking a transformer to the ground and setting it on fire, The Port Arthur News reported.
As a result, the Wednesday edition of The Port Arthur News will be delivered late today or possibly with the Thursday edition and The Orange Leader will be delivered Thursday, reported The Port Arthur News.
Power was restored at midnight. While technicians are working to repair the damage to the press, arrangements have been made to print both newspapers at an alternate location. The e-editions of both papers are online and available to subscribers, The Port Arthur News reported.
"We apologize for any inconvenience," said Bobby Tingle, circulation director. "Thank you for subscribing and thank you for understanding."
